2026 Municipal Election

The next Council election is November 3, 2026. There are four Village Council seats and three Charter Amendments on the ballot. Vice Mayor Sharon Mahoney was unopposed and therefore retains Seat 5. 

To qualify for office, you must be a registered voter with the State of Florida, a resident of Islamorada, Village of Islands, and must maintain residency in Islamorada throughout the 2-year term of office. 

Prospective candidates must submit their filing receipt from the Florida Commission on Ethics during Qualifying, proving they have filed Form 1. Create an account and complete the form here. 

The Village Clerk is the Qualifying Officer for Islamorada, Village of Islands' municipal elections. Qualifying occurs Tuesday, August 4 at noon through Tuesday, August 11 at noon.

NEW FOR 2026 - Political signs may be displayed 30 days before the start of early voting, which begins on October 19. Therefore, campaign signage may be installed starting Saturday, September 19.  Please be aware of our political signage regulations - signs not in compliance may be removed. Signs must be removed no later than seven days after the election - November 10

Please note that the early voting location has changed from the Islamorada Library to the Plantation Key Community Center (Old Courthouse) at 88820 Overseas Highway. 

Precinct #24 has moved from the Library to the Founders Park Community Center at 87000 Overseas Highway.
